Language Programs

Central Virginia Chinese School offers CHL (Chinese as a Heritage Language) and CSL (Chinese as a Second Language) programs. Our programs are designed to help students of all ages and levels learn Chinese language and culture in a fun and engaging way. Our experienced teachers provide personalized attention to each student and use interactive teaching methods to make learning effective and enjoyable.

Chinese as a Heritage Language (CHL)

The Chinese as a Heritage Language (CHL) program is designed for students who have substantial listening and speaking abilities with Chinese (Mandarin), normally second generation immigrants or resident aliens. Reading and writing are the primary goals for the CHL program (pre-K to 8th Grade).  The instruction language in the class is generally Mandarin.

Chinese as a Second Language (CSL)

The Chinese as a Second Language (CSL) program is geared toward students, children or adults, whose spoken Chinese is at rudimental levels and who try to learn conversational Chinese language.  English is used as instructional language.

In addition to language programs, CVCS also offers a line of activity classes such as Fine Art, Chess, and Math, etc. Students take advantages of these development opportunities of their interests.
